Several studies evaluating stress and satisfaction levels on dentistry students reveal high levels of stress related to personal and adaptability issues, discontent with educative processes and financial issues. This study thus measures satisfaction levels of dentistry students at the Facultad de Odontología of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, intending to identify factors affecting satisfaction levels, taking into account that between 2004 and 2010 the Facultad de Odontología (FOUN) registered14% desertion average out students. This study combined both quantitative and qualitative research. The first phase established positive, negative and neutral aspects perceived by students throughout the carrier. The second phase applied and analyseda survey made to 221 students. Results show that satisfaction levels vary from positive to negative, depending mainly on student’s financial situation, emotional stability, pedagogy and Faculty’s administration processes. It additionally concludes that it is necessary to develop further research on this topic in order to design strategies to improve student satisfaction, guarantee higher levels of continuity and increase their adherence to the dentistry program.
