Introduction: Clinical practice guidelines (CPG) are documents that gather evidence in order to provide study-based recommendations for good clinical practice. Primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), being an autoimmune disease with highly variable presentation, characteristics and clinical course, makes its diagnosis, treatment and follow-up points of discussion that merited the creation of a guideline. The low level of adherence of health professionals to CPGs sometimes leads to an erroneous approach and thus an inadequate comprehensive management of the disease. Methodology: A before and after study without a control group was proposed. Where the subjects of study are the health professionals of the Hospital de la Misericordia. A pre-test survey was applied to evaluate the knowledge and practices of the health workers of this institution. After the socialization of the ITP CPG, a post-test was carried out to evaluate the knowledge acquired about management and the ITP approach. Results: It was evidenced that all the evaluated professionals knew previously the definition of ITP, with a notorious improvement in the knowledge of the paraclinics suitable for the diagnosis of ITP (from 28 to 57%), besides an appropriate initial management in emergencies was evidenced (40% more successes), as well as in the different clinical scenarios of probable bleedings; as far as the follow-up, 100% of suitable answers were reached. Conclusion: There was an improvement of almost 27% in adherence to the guidelines after implementation, and thus a positive result was inferred in the management, diagnosis, and medical treatment of patients with ITPs who attend the institution, impacting the quality of life of the children.
