Catálogo de osteología de la columna vertebral: Evaluación osteométrica y morfológica de las muestras esqueléticas del Departamento de Morfología Facultad de Medicina, Universidad Nacional de Colombia
The need to establish osteological indices in the spine has implemented osteometric methods to standardize dimorphism in different vertebral regions. Although progress has been made in specific regions, there is not enough information to integrate the entire spine. OBJECTIVE: to develop a catalogue of osteology in the spine with osteometric data from the vertebral skeletal samples of the Department of Morphology. MATERIAL AND METHODS: include the osteometric evaluation and morphological characterization of 164 disarticulated vertebrae from the cervical, thoracic, lumbar regions and excluded articulated segments, with remains of tissues and segments of the sacral coccygeal region. 20 parameters were measured using a digital calibrator, goniometer and manual adipometer. The parameters were arbitrarily selected and include: Antero-Posterior Diameter C1; Transverse Diameter C1; Medial height lateral mass C1; Lateral height lateral mass C1; Ventral height of odontoid process; Dorsal height of odontoid process; Maximum Transverse Diameter of odontoid process; Maximum A-P diameter of odontoid process; Ventral height of the vertebral body; Dorsal height of the vertebral body; Middle A-P diameter of the vertebral body; Middle transverse diameter of the vertebral body; Length of spinal pedicle; Transverse -angle of the vertebral pedicle; Transverse-angle of the vertebral lamina; Length of the vertebral lamina; Length of the spinous process; Length of the transverse process; Antero-posterior diameter of the vertebral foramen and transverse diameter of the vertebral foramen. RESULTS: A Digital Catalogue is delivered, with the sheets of the different segments under study; which includes measurement techniques, osteometric results and the respective morphological description of each vertebra.
