This document describes the main characteristics of a communications system implemented in order to allow the exchange of information between Allen Bradley brand equipment, located in the Machine Automation Laboratory (LabAuto), and ABB brand equipment, located in the Laboratory of Robotized Intelligent Systems (LabSIR) of the National University of Colombia in Bogotá, using the specifications of the OPC standard defined by the OPC Foundation. For this implementation, the adaptation and configuration of the existing Ethernet network between the two laboratories was carried out, guaranteeing a physical means of data transmission between the equipment located in them. On the other hand, a SCADA system was developed on the Ignition 8 platform, which can be executed on a computer with Windows operating system connected to the university network, and its graphical interface can be accessed from the same computer or from a device mobile with Android operating system connected to the same network. In addition, the programming of a double Pick and Place routine with interrupt-based external activation commands was developed in one of ABB IRB 140 robots from the LabSIR laboratory. The SCADA system functions as the central axis of communications by OPC standard, between the equipment of both laboratories, allowing the users of the system to enter control actions and receive information on the status of the robot, from the graphical interfaces of the system, or from an HMI developed on a Panel View Plus 1000, which is connected to a PAC Compac LOGIX 5370 - L30ELRM in the LabAuto laboratory. Finally, an application hosted on the IBM Watson IoT platform was developed, which allows users to access a graphical interface with all the system's control and supervision functionalities, from any device that allows running a web browser and has a connection to the Internet, regardless of your location.
