The use of information technologies, although they represent great advantages for companies in terms of productivity, can also mean disadvantages for the health of the worker (stress, fatigue, postural hygiene and exhaustion), by not forcing themselves to use them only during business hours. By having mobile devices on hand, with access to email accounts and business chats, it is more likely that they will be given answers to work requirements at times that under normal circumstances they should be using to share with the family or carry out extracurricular activities. The existing legislation on digital disconnection or minimum guarantees for this in Colombia are not directly related to the safety and health of its employees, but rather focus on the regulation of working hours and aspects such as salary, being a matter of great importance, because many companies are not carrying out the corresponding verification of working and health conditions in the places where their worker is carrying out their remote activities, becoming a worrying issue at the level of mental and physical health.
