Evaluación de la afectación de la capacidad vial dado a la implementación de medidas de traffic calming. Caso de estudio: cámaras de detección electrónica de la ciudad de Barranquilla
This study seeks to evaluate the effect that Traffic Calming measures have on the operation of roads in the city of Barranquilla; each measure obtains different percentages of speed reduction according to their geometric characteristics and locations. The case study was specifically developed on electronic detection cameras. Information was collected at 4 points in the city with high vehicle flow where the speed detection cameras are located. Factors such as the number of vehicles and the speed were considered for this study. The present project is framed in this state of development, with the objective of estimating flow-speed relationship models in the study corridors for speed reduction analysis on the efficiency and capacity of the road. The Greenshields model was applied for the estimation of the road capacity, with which through the relations speed-density and flow-density it is sought to know how the implementation of detection cameras affect the traffic operation; when graphing and comparing these relations we obtained that in the cases with presence of camera the operation of the road is affected in a significant way diminishing the effective capacity.
