This investigation is quantitative with a descriptive scope and it is based on characterizing the Socio-Occupational orientation profile of the first-level students of the Psychology program of the Universidad de la Costa, a non-experimental study was carried out through a type instrument survey, focused on 93 students belonging to the first level of the Psychology program of the Universidad de la Costa, of which it is intended to identify the elements that characterize the variable of Socio-Occupational Orientation, where issues on socio-demographic data, personal, social, and economic aspects were addressed and the dimensions, Self-knowledge, Knowledge of the World of Training and Knowledge of the World of Work, proposed by the Ministry of National Education, were related, 2013. The results obtained show that at a general level the students were concerned about doing different investigations regarding the career they wanted to study, therefore, the surveyed population is projected as professionals and they are clear about the academic and labor aspects of the chosen career. Taking into account the above, it is recommended to carry out future research that allows to relate this information with the academic performance of the surveyed students, as well as a follow-up of their permanence in the institution, this allows comparing the veracity of the information obtained with the reality of the students.
