The general goal of this research is to determine the pertinent educational strategies in the implementation of Teaching for Comprehension at Instituto Educativo Distrital Ciudadela 20 de Julio. The methodology used is qualitative in nature, within the frame of the hermeneutic paradigm and the ethnographic method. The population is integrated by content-area head teachers and 14 students from different grades. The data collection techniques used are direct observation of the teachers in the classroom, a survey to the students, and an open-ended- question interview to the teachers. The analysis of the data collected is completed on the grid and validated through triangulation. Part of the findings reveal that the teachers consider their pedagogical practices as pertinent. However, it is observed that a high percentage of them ignores and does not apply the Teaching for Comprehension strategy.
