The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between work stress and psychological well-being in officials of the Dialogue and Order Maintenance Unit (UNDMO), former ESMAD, of the 20 de Julio citadel station in Barranquilla. The methodology used was a quantitative approach, under the empirical-analytical paradigm, using a non-experimental cross sectional design. The population was made up of 30 uniformed personnel, to whom the Sánchez Canovas Psychological Well-being Scale (1998) and the Questionnaire for the Evaluation of Stress Adapted and validated in the Colombian working population (Villalobos, 1996; 2005; 2010). The main results indicate a significant correlation between work stress and psychological well-being, showing that high levels of stress are associated with a deterioration in psychological well-being. The conclusions suggest the implementation of intervention programs to improve working conditions and psychological support for officials, in order to reduce work stress and promote their well-being. Finally, specific recommendations are made for future interventions in this population.
