The pathological study in structures such as bridges is of great benefit for disaster prevention, it is necessary to know why and how a structure could fail, reducing the risk index and avoiding economic and social losses. For this reason; This study examines the conditions of the bridge located over the Guamal River in the municipality of San Carlos de Guaroa, identifying the pathologies that are present in this civil work by means of non-destructive tests following the provisions of the visual inspection manual of bridges and pontoons of the INVIAS national institute. The objective is to evaluate the pathological condition together with the state of each one of the elements that make up the bridge, finding its cause and effect, also implementing mitigation measures and treatments for its pathologies; periodic maintenance to vehicle bridges in particular is the best solution to prevent and mitigate any appearance of diseases that the structure may have The pathologies found in this bridge suggest an unfavorable state of the structure, generating the need to perform improvement of the structure for its continued success that it has had in the municipality, since it is a very important work for the connection of some neighboring towns. to the urban center of San Carlos de Guaroa and also for its economy. This study becomes a tacit invitation to investigate the pathologies present in the bridges of the meta region since some of the constructions carried out in Colombia have unwanted finishes, with an unsafe and reliable appearance. A visual inspection is enough to identify irregularities during the construction, maintenance and operation of the infrastructure.
