This project arises from the management of the Santo Tomás University (USTA) for contributing through a social project to the community of the Madrid neighborhood, proposing a space where they can carry out social and academic activities safely and comfortably. In addition to this, the need of the neighborhood population is taken into account for not having a nearby establishment to which they can resort to run conferences or social gatherings and even to acquire academic resources and the problem of illegal occupations of the land that generate insecurity. For the elaboration of the design of this project, what was established in the Colombian Regulations for Construction of the Resistant Earthquake in force (NSR-10) was taken into account, once the project execution area and the topographic survey of the proposed land were recognized, the architectural design was configured according to what was proposed by the architect and leader of the Madrid Etapa 4 community, Javier Osso, which takes into account the dimensions of the land and the community's requirements, after which the structural design of the elements that will make up the library (beams and columns) using the horizontal forces method, the proposal and design of footings, hydrosanitary networks and electrical networks. Through this undergraduate work, the delivery of the structural plans, architectural plans and work budget of the proposal for the structural design of the library is carried out, complying with the parameters or requirements demanded by the Colombian regulation NSR-10. Specialized software such as ETABS and Revit were implemented for the design and revision of the structural design of the project and the modeling of the 3D design.
