This research aims to establish the manifestations of anxiety symptoms in a group of 40 players from the city of Cali. Anxiety usually occurs as a response to the demands of competitive sport, being a factor that can modulate the success or failure of athletes, for this reason it is necessary to investigate its nature. In order to answer the research question the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory test 2 (CSAI- 2), which consists of a questionnaire of 27 items was applied with 3 dimensions; Cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety and self-confidence. The results showed that somatic anxiety, presents a general level, the subjects are in states of high anxiety with 85%, 15% of the sample has low average anxiety states and no subject is reported in low and middle anxiety, or low cognitive anxiety is distributed among the four measures presented in the trial, 32% of subjects had low cognitive anxiety states, 28% of the subjects are shown in upper middle cognitive anxiety, another 28% in high cognitive anxiety and the remaining 12% in low cognitive anxiety finally in relation to self-confidence, participants show that 90% have confidence in their own resources and strategies to meet goals and objectives. It can be said that the somatic and cognitive dimensions are presented irregular than expected way, as they appear higher than it should be presented as the CSAI - 2, the confidence is this normal as its ideal state that should be high as competition is coming. The results showed that 85% of the subjects had somatic anxiety at a high level and 15% of the sample presents high state average somatic anxiety. As for cognitive anxiety 28% of the subjects presented cognitive anxiety high, 28% medium high, 32% lower. Finally in the dimension of self-confidence it can be seen that 90% of respondents have confidence in their own resources and strategies to meet goals and objectives.
