After 20 years of protection and conservation activities in the Tibanica Wetland District Ecological Park (TWDEP) by different district entities it is not known if these have allowed the recovery of their biotic and abiotic components. In the present study, the composition of the edaphic faune of the Tibanica wetland was identified and its relationship with some general chemical and physical characteristics of the soils present in the park was determined. In addition, values of richness, dominance and diversity of species were determined with respect to the traditional ecological indices, Margalef, Simpson and Shannon respectively, and a Beta similarity analysis was performed using the jaccard index in addition to the spearman correlation index. 12 sampling points were taken in the entire wetland area, distributed in the 3 zones established in the environmental zoning proposed by the IDEA-UN (2009). The collection of the individuals was carried out following the methodology proposed by the International Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility Program (1996) which recommends that the extraction of monoliths of 25cm x 25cm and 30cm of depth should be carried out in each of the points of sampling. A total of 636 organisms were collected and identified, belonging to 30 species-morphospecies, grouped into 24 Families, 11 Orders and 6 Classes, distributed in the 12 points sampled. Likewise, soil samples were taken at each of the points for their chemical characterization (Total nitrogen, available nitrogen, organic matter, organic carbon), and very little homogeneous results were obtained in the different sectors evaluated. A great relationship was found between the composition of the edaphic faune and the chemical and physical characteristics evaluated at each sampling point. It was corroborated that the environmental zoning carried out by the IDEA-UN did not take into account the parameters evaluated in this study and it was determined that some areas of the wetland are more recovered than others with respect to chemical, biological and physical parameters, due to the the different anthropic activities and disturbances that have been presented within it.
