The following research is framed in the area of language, aims to improve the writing skills among students through the design of a didactic strategy that allows to encourage the textual production based on the development of poetry in 9th grade students of the Antonio Nariño high school in Morindo Santana, Los Córdobas (Cordoba). Likewise, different theoretical references were analyzed, which allowed to support each one of the objectives proposed in the design of the teaching strategies. The review of the Synthetic Quality Index of the Institution and the results of the Saber 2015 test, showed that the area Language is the one that presents the lowest level of performance, especially in reading comprehension. Different surveys were applied to the students and discussion groups with teachers, which allowed to determine that the problem was not exclusively in the learning but also in the teaching strategies. Based on the above, a didactic strategy focused on the interpretation, analysis and differentiation between words, synonyms and antonyms was elaborated and applied, which allowed to increase the vocabulary among the students, recognize the grammatical structures, literary figures and poetry writing based on everyday situations in the context of the student.
