Estilo de vida, hábitos nutricionales y antecedentes clínicos de los adultos mayores pertenecientes a programas de ejercicio físico de Centros Vida y Universidad Santo Tomás, Bucaramanga
The elderly is any person aged 60 and over (WHO) and represents 11% of the world population (WHO). In recent years, there has been an increase in Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases (NCDs) in this population, which has become a national and international public health problem. The increase in NCDs in older adults may be due to lifestyle, which has been related to nutritional status. Both lifestyle and nutritional status have been related to an increase in NCDs such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension in older adults. Objective: To determine the lifestyle, nutritional habits and clinical history of older adults belonging to physical exercise programs at Centros Vida and Universidad Santo Tomás, Bucaramanga. Methodology: Descriptive study. The FANTASTIC Questionnaire to assess lifestyle, the MNA® Questionnaire for nutritional status and step 1 of the WHO surveillance method, STEPwise, was applied to 63 older adults between 60-85 years of age. Results: The average age of the deployed population was 65.60 ± 7.2 years. 77.7% of presentation presented a good lifestyle; 61.9% had a normal nutritional status and arterial hypertension was the clinical history with the highest prevalence (50.7%). Conclusions: Most of the older adults belonging to a physical exercise program present a good lifestyle and a nutritional state, however, they present diseases such as arterial hypertension.
