Objective: To assess the perception of the aesthetics of the facial profile among dentists, orthodontists, maxillofacial surgeons and ordinary people. Materials and methods: The sample included fifty dentists, fifty orthodontists and surgeons and fifty ordinary people in a Colombian population. The silhouettes of the straight, convex, concave facial profile, normal, open and closed nasolabial angle were shown; normal lip position, prochelia and retrochelia. Likewise, they were evaluated as very attractive, attractive, moderately attractive, little or not at all attractive. Results: The straight profile was considered attractive, the convex profile was perceived by ordinary people as attractive, the other groups found it not attractive at all. All groups evaluated the concave profile as unattractive or unattractive. The normal nasolabial angle was very attractive, the open and closed angle was found little or not attractive at all. The normal lip position was distinguished as very attractive. The prochelia and retrochelia were considered little or not attractive at all. Conclusions: The straight profile, the normal nasolabial angle and the normal lip position are the characteristics of the facial profile that were considered very attractive for all groups.
