Among these emergent conditions, sarcopenia (low muscle mass and function associated with aging) has shown to impact survival, just as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have also shown to be related to adverse outcomes such as mortality. For this analysis the first and the last waves were used in order to test the association with 3-year mortality with Cox regression models to estimate hazard ratios with confounding variables (age, sex, marital and smoking status).
