This chapter presents the main results of the anti-drug policies implemented in Colombia between 2000 and 2008 under Plan Colombia. The chapter summarizes the results of several studies done in the past few years and is aimed at understanding the effectiveness and costs of anti-drug policies in Colombia. In particular, after presenting the main facts about these policies, the chapter focuses on a description of the main factors that explain the effectiveness of eradication and interdiction campaigns and alternative development
