Results 178 (3%) of 5640 patients met clinical criteria of ICUAW. On multimultivariate analysis, the ICUAW was more frequent in chronic pulmonary non-COPD patients (OR 2.68, 95% CI 1.07-6.75), patients with complications during the period of mechanical ventilation as: sepsis (OR 2.91, 95% CI 1.89-4.48); ICU pneumonia (OR 1.89, 95% CI 1.02-3.27); cardiovascular dysfunction (OR 2.64, 95% CI 1.62-4.30); hepatic dysfunction (OR 2.34, 95% CI 1.22-4.46), use of steroids (OR 3.35, 95% CI 2.35-4.99), use of neuromuscular blockers
