How a group relates to agrobiodiversity differs greatly within and between user groups. This chapter explores the socioecological changes that are driven globally by migration and urbanization, agrarian change (de-and reagrarianization), market pressures, and climate. It introduces the concepts of intentionality by default and conscious intentionality to explore how two archetypical smallholder farmer groups, traditional/Indigenous and neoagrarian farmers, use agrobiodiversity. These groups represent the extremes of smallholder farmers
