This paper describes the importance of biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) by legumeRhizobium symbiosis to tropical agriculture, the evolution of BNF paradigms, creation of strategic alliances to combat soil fertility degradation, and accomplishments of collaborative BNF-related research at CIAT-TSBFI.
