The Logistic Regression Models to discriminate Peptic Ulcer from Gastritis based on Helicobacter pylori Putative Virulence Factors--Studies of Four Countries
Background: True virulence factors must provide epidemiologically consistent results. We constructed models to test whether it was possible to discriminate peptic ulcer from gastritis based on the patterns of putative H. pylori virulence factors: CagA/cagA, vacA and BabA/babA. Methods: 869 H. pylori isolates including 131 strains from Colombia [74 peptic ulcer (PUD), 57 gastritis], 267 from the US (155 PUD, 112 gastritis), 170 from Korea (117 PUD, 53 gastritis) and 313 from Japan (184 PUD, 129 gastritis) were included.
