This is a theoretical article of update discipline; it seeks an approximation to the influence of the GABA neurotransmitter in depression and suicide since, in people with depression this compound has an important role, affecting the activity of areas of the brain involved in decision-making and conflicts resolution. The study found that although depression is related to the increase or decrease in the concentration of noradrenaline and serotonin, is the GABA neurotransmitter that determines a joint process of inhibition biopsychosocial, which increases the risk of suicide in people with biological and social vulnerability.
