Paraffin deposition is one of the biggest issues in crude oil production, transport and storage. Inhibition by magnetic treatment is a choice that improves rheological properties of the treated crude oil, without modifying its chemical properties. This study presents a revision of works carried out in national and international oil fields, where different paraffin inhibition methods have been applied, and to standing out the advantages of using the magnetic method: paraffin removal processes reduction in the treated wells, low maintenance costs, paraffin inhibition without production process interruptions or formation damage to utilizing only reservoir energy. Those facts make the magnetic treatment and interesting choice for reducing significantly the lift cost of the barrel of petroleum produced and to keep paraffin crude oil with high mobility.
