The present article suggests a model in order to solve the problem that arises in businesses due to the lack of strategy alignment regarding the information technology and communication, IT, that have caused that the latter do not take part in the value adding process in the businesses value chain. Basis for a model have been searched throughout several papers and investigations round the world, written by academics and experts belonging to renowned institutions, private and public. A field investigation has taken place as well, trying to establish the involvement of IT in the business strategies of enterprises in the city of Medellin, done in a qualitative way, interviewing firms belonging to every cluster. The suggested model takes into consideration the information collected in the basis for the model and in the field investigation, and implies certain structural changes to the organization and new ways of working. The ‘actor’ in charge of IT plays a new role with new specific functions to become a strategist and a strategy facilitator. The suggested model supposes that under the implicit considerations, a substantial interaction and communication between areas and strategies is achieved and the firm can point to development and innovation.
