The research has two parts. The first part describes the Colombian general legal framework for the (unipersonal company) and for the unipersonal Sociedad por Acciones Simplificada - with emphasis on the similarities, differences and advantages of one legal figure towards the other. The second part anticipates the future of both legal figures within the Colombian legal framework based on their specifications, similarities, differences and advantages, in order to conclude that the practical use of the empresa unipersonal will decrease progressively until disappearing from the Colombian legal practice to be replaced by the unipersonal SAS, which embodies the principal aspects of the empresa unipersonal but exceeds its advantages considering the implicit benefits within the SAS regulation.
