Voltage sags are one of the most common problems in Power Energy Quality. Their impact could be noticed in large networks or even in single buses. Although their impact in electric machines has been studied during the last years, these studies have focused in rectangular voltage sags caused by power systems faults. Non-rectangular voltage sags are as important as rectangular because of their happening frequency and long-term effect in electric machines utility. This paper presents the impact that Non- rectangular voltage sags have in induction motors, especially in stator currents and output variables such as speed and shaft torque. Also, a comparison of the effects of the different types of non-rectangular voltage sags in induction motors is presented at the end of this paper.
