During this study we found there is a positive relation between regular smoking and alcohol consumption, and also the presence of gastroesophageal reflux, voice abuse and professional voice in the development of benign lesions of the vocal folds. There is a correlation in the results obtained from the subjective voice analysis and the patients perception of voice improvement before and after surgery, although this does not happen when compared to results from objective voice analysis. Subjective voice analysis have been and should continue as a valuable tool in the evaluation of voice disorder patients before and during follow up after surgery management or phnonotherapy intervention.
