Este articulo es parte de una investigacion mas amplia sobre la educacion femenina en Pasto y muestra el sentido que dio el gobierno del recien constituido Departamento de Narino a la formacion de las ninas de sectores economicamente menos favorecidos. Con una vision practica se implemento un proyecto educativo dirigido a preparar a estas ninas en oficios con el fin de incentivar la economia local. El proyecto se presento como necesario para moralizar a las ninas, argumentando que, por su pobreza, era un sector social al borde del abismo moral. La investigacion se fundamento en la historia de la sociedad y en los estudios de genero, y se utilizaron las fuentes documentales del Archivo Historico Municipal de Pasto, las disposiciones del gobierno nacional y regional y la prensa local. Como resultado, el estudio evidencia la funcion diferenciadora de la escuela al actuar como barrera para dificultar la equidad, tanto social como de genero. ABSTRACT This article, stems from a more extensive research on female education in Pasto, demonstrates how the Government of the newly established Department of Narino responded to the formation of girls from economically disadvantaged sectors. With practical vision, an educational project was implemented that aimed at preparing girls in trade in order to stimulate the local economy. The project was presented as being necessary to the formation of the moral well-being of the girls, arguing that poverty was a social sector situated on the edge of a moral abyss. The research is based on the history of society and on studies of gender, using documentary sources from the historical archives of the City of Pasto, and dispositions from the national and regional government and the local press. The study demonstrates the necessity of schools to act as barriers in hindering inequalities generated by social injustices.
