The following review article is committed to support the concept of citizen media both from the theoretical to the Colombian researcher Clemencia Rodriguez, as well as the tenets of contemporary political scientist, the Belgian Chantal Mouffe. The document develops the characteristics of citizen media communication and its difference from other denominations (community media, alternative media, among others) and, finally, relates the type of story that produce these resources with communities affected by violence.
