Este articulo es parte de una investigacion mas amplia sobre la Historia de la Educacion Superior de la mujer en la Universidad de Cartagena, no solo para profesionalizarse sino para asumir roles administrativos durante el periodo de 1920 a 1989. De tal manera que este estudio es un analisis historico de la vida profesional de Paulina Beregoff, la primera mujer que se profesionalizo en la Universidad de Cartagena; las experiencias de profesionalizacion del colectivo de mujeres costenas que ingresaron tras ella, y la rectoria de Beatriz Bechara de Borge, como la unica de este genero hasta hoy en el centro universitario mas antiguo del Caribe colombiano. Se buscara mostrar, desde la revision de fuentes primarias documentales y orales, de archivos locales y regionales, que la presencia de la mujer en este claustro universitario represento el transito de una universidad tradicionalmente masculina a una universidad de genero, en la que las mujeres fueron capaces de generar nuevas representaciones dentro de una sociedad de transito hacia la modernidad. ABSTRACT This article is part of a broader research on the history of the higher education of women in the University of Cartagena, not only to professionalize, but to assume administrative roles during the period 1920 to 1989. This study is a historical analysis of the professional life of Paulina Beregoff,the first woman who earned a degree from the University of Cartagena; the collective experiences of professionalization of the coastal women who entered behind her, and the rectory of Beatriz Bechara of Borge, as being the only one of this genre, until today, in the oldest university in the colombian Caribbean. It will seek to show, from the revision of primary documentary and oral sources of local and regional files, that the presence of women in this University cloister represented the transit of a traditionally male University as a University’s gender, in which women were able to generate new representations toward modernity within a transitional society.
