Sobre el regimen internacional de las cartas Standby, existen dos tendencias: una de caracter interestatal, liderada por las Naciones Unidas a traves de la CNUDMI, y otra de caracter privado, donde se destaca la labor de la Camara de Comercio Internacional y el Instituto de Derecho y Practicas Bancarias Internacionales. Este ensayo analiza la situacion y concluye que existen areas del derecho internacional privado donde hay mayor eficacia en la armonizacion internacional por parte de determinados actores privados sobre los organismos intergubernamentales, tales como las Naciones Unidas. EnglishHarmonization processes on private law, and specially credit and Standby letters, generate an interesting field of reflection about State�s role in front of other actors who have been increasing their prominence. About internacional regime of Standby letters, ther are two tendencies: One of interstate character, headed by the United Nations through UNCITRAL, and the other of private character, where the work of the Internacional Chamber of Commerce and Institute of Right and Internacional Banking Practices is outstanding. This essay analyzes the situation and concludes that exist some areas of the private international law, where is major efficacy in the international har monization bydetermined private actors in front of the intergovernmental agencies such as the United Nations.
