This article discusses the development and evolution of the Systemic Cognitive Procedural Therapy from the explanation of some contributions from experimental Psychology, attachment theory, the approach of inter-subjectivity and the theory of mind (Mentalizing) to give account of a model that conceives the mind as a complex, dynamic and self-organized functional system, which is actively constructed in a dialectic matrix between affective processes and the emergence of a sense of personal identity. This model is proposed as an alternative framework for understanding the psychobiological dynamics of the development of personal mind.
