This paper investigates possible mechanisms to terminate Colombias armed conflict. In order to obtain the required information, the head researcher and the auxiliary students resorted to firsthand and secondhand sources: interviews and documents. Three methods were used in this research: descriptive, historical, and analytic-deductive. Our main conclusions were the following: (1) There is indeed an armed conflict in Colombia. (2) The first step to its termination is to acknowledge its existence, without concealing or minimizing it. (3) Before sitting down to talk with insurgents, the representatives of the establishments various interest must come to an agreement about what to negotiate with the guerrillas. (4) As for the themes to be discussed, the starting point ought to be the common agenda agreed years ago between President Andres Pastrana and the Farc guerrillas.
