Prevalencia del riesgo nutricional mediante valoración global subjetiva y score de riesgo nutricional, en adultos hospitalizados en las unidades de medicina interna y cirugía de un hospital de III nivel de atención en Bogotá-Colombia
To identify nutritional risk hospitalized patients is essential to initiate appropriate nutritional care and avoid increased morbidity and mortality, hospital stay, which is associated with lower quality of life and greater institutional cost. There is not a globally accepted nutritional assessment for nutritional screening. The main nutritional scientific societies, ASPEN and ESPEN recommend systems Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) and Nutritional Risk Score 2002 (NRS 2002) respectively. In Latin America, there are no recommendations on the preference of both nutritional screening tool. The present study aims to describe the nutritional risk hospitalized adult admission in surgery and internal medicine services at the Hospital of Simon Bolivar in Bogota, by the application of tools like VGS and NRS2002 from ELAN 2012 and verify their consistency. We studied 154 patients (46.1% female and 53.9% male, mean age 52.8 years) in the first three days of hospitalization. According to the NRS and VGS 2002 methods, prevalence of malnutrition was 55.2% and 41.6% respectively with a statistically significant p menor que 0.0001 and Kappa coefficient of 0.34 with a CI 95% from 0.20 to 0.49. Therefore we can conclude that there is weak interobservacional concordance between screening tools. To select appropriate screening tool is essential to achieve appropriate nutritional care.
