The present research was conducted based on a documentary compilation, which deals with the history of jazz in Colombia, and specifically in the city of Bogota during the 60´s and 70´s. A file was set up with various sources ranging from the anecdotal story until the musicological text, through the registry and criticism in the press of the time. From that file is performed an analysis with interdisciplinary tools from the social history of art and the cultural geography, taking as a reference the notions of geography and the artistic field. The investigation was carried out in order to understand the place the jazz occupied in the social and cultural practices of Bogota. It is a contribution to the mapping of social relations and the places of the musical field in the 60´s and 70´s in Bogota; in which he city is understood as a framework for the practice of jazz evidence social changes and the quest for modernity. The research presents the relationships between cultural practices, the social environment in which they develop and the paths that the different actors of the scene of the jazz in Bogota during the period mentioned above. Those relationships crucially determine the configuration of the geographical and social space for the case of the musical field. It is analyzed in materialized spaces that reflected on the one hand,, the spirit of institutionalized in this musical practice in connection with the criticism, and on the other hand, the character that adopted the jazz as part of the environment of entertainment at night in Bogota at the time. The previous characteristic elements of the musical field studied, are exposed to way of social and spatial mapping characterizing the evidences of the press and placing in testimonial findings maps of the physical locations that starred in the jazz in Bogota during the years 60 and 70.
