Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) is unusual; however corresponds to the most common mesenchymal neoplasm in the gastrointestinal tract. In this report we present a case of gastric GIST in a 60-year-old man, who presented high risk upper gastrointestinal bleeding and constitutional syndrome; was treated with urgent surgical tumoral reduction (subtotal gastrectomy). This entity has very unspecific manifestations which makes it clinical as well as a pathological diagnostic challenge, requiring a deep knowledge of the gastric wall histomorphology.
