Ideologías lingüísticas, racismo y anti-haitianismo en las escuelas de los bateyes del sureste dominicano: criollo haitiano, español e inglés en perspectiva crítica
Based on interviews and field work of observation done in some public schools of bateys located in the southeast of the Dominican Republic, this research analyses the diverse ideologies related to the creole Haitian, Spanish and English that circulate widely therein. Benefits derived from the multilinguistic condition are differentially exposed with respect to each of these languages; the social background of the language ideologies identified is discussed by referring to the Haitian migration towards the Dominican Republic; then is presented the conclusion that schools represent one of the first spaces in which boys, girls and teenagers of Haitian origin meet the racist anti-Haitianism institutionalised in that country.
