The main objective of this study is to provide more information about the way in which humor is approached in audio-description. Hence, a pragmatic analysis was carried out, in order to highlight the features of the contextual assumptions, presented in the audiodescription of humor of an audiovisual product. For this analysis, the theory of relevance applied to translation, was used to draw a comparison between the, original and audio described, potentially humorous segments of the movie “500 days of Summer”, which belongs to the romantic comedy genre. In this analysis, it was possible to reveal the features of the contextual assumptions of each version as well as the degree of interpretative resemblance between the segments, according to the cognitive effects in each one of them. Likewise, it could be determined that the omission of relevant information in the audiodescribed version, may have negative consequences such as total or partial loss of the joke. Finally, a regular pattern in the way in which humor is conveyed in this product could be established: a constant strengthening of a contextual assumption, that eventually is going to be contradicted.
