This study assumes Translation and Terminology as two communicative disciplines that are linked both theoretically and practically. Thus, the fundamental objective of this research was to identify the sub-skills within the frame of translation competence, according to PACTE, and the levels of terminological practices, according to Cabre, that professional translators exhibit when they translate technical texts. Three instruments were used to obtain data from six participants. After carrying out quantitative and qualitative analyses, the results revealed differences in the types of translation subcompetencies and the levels of terminological practices regarding: translation directionality, expertise field, and UT mastery at semantic and pragmatic levels, essentially.
