This document succinctly presents the findings and results of the research entitled, Families in Action: analysis of the relationship between the real conditions of families and the Development and Poverty conditions of the program in the Municipality of Manizales during the years 2005-2010 carried out within the framework of the Master in Regional Development and Territory Planning of the Autonomous University of Manizales. This academic exploration of the areas of poverty and development responds to an undeniable need to describe and analyze some of the most relevant phenomena in the contemporary world. Poverty is undoubtedly one of the problems that most worries and besets today's societies, insofar as it expresses some of the most significant obstacles that stand in the way of the full enjoyment of social rights and for the development of the human beings under the postulates of human dignity.
