In Bogota, the Cunoniaceae family is represented by the genus Weinmannia with eleven species of trees, commonly known as encenillos, which are often dominant in several high Andean forests in Colombia. The objective of this work is to present a taxonomic synopsis, carried out in the field and herbarium, of the species of the genus Weinmannia recorded for the Capital District. The morphological characters of 165 botanical specimens from five herbaria were evaluated, which allowed to document the similarities between species such as W. mariquitae and W. pinnata; the possible presence of hybrids as in the cases of W. auriculata var. bogotensis, W. stenocarpa and W. pubescens, and the presence of W. stenocarpa as a new record for Colombia. On the other hand, the presence of W. cundinamarcensis, W. heterophylla, W. lentiscifolia, W. microphylla and W. reticulata in Bogota was discarded, since they correspond to wrongly identified or collected specimens outside the study area. A taxonomic key based on vegetative characters is proposed due to the homogeneity of the inflorescences of the revised species. This review constitutes one of the results of the Flora de Bogota project, which generates tools for the identification of the plant species present in the rural and urban areas of the Capital District.
