When analyzing the history of the traditional parties in Colombia, it is observed that the ideological origins are not really their own, but that they have been imbued by other external events, and that liberal ideas quickly penetrated to form the party in the first instance. liberal, from which it can be easily deduced that the liberal party is the one that has exercised the most power in the country, due in large part to the dynamism of its militants who have always remained present defending their interests, in addition to the determined impulse they have given it great leaders that the party has had and among which stands out Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, whose work and contributions will always be remembered.
