This research work starts from the problem that some entrepreneurs with a managerial and administrative role of small and medium-sized companies carry out their decision-making process based on experience or intuition, without taking into account more complex processes based on models or methods supported by technologies that would be very useful in their use (Acosta-Rangel, Bazante and Ojeda, 2017; Baez and Puentes, 2018; Hernandez-Fuentes and Sanchez-Mojica, 2017). To this is added that SMEs are not always managed by people with vast knowledge of strategies to innovate and bring growth to their organization (Baez and Puentes, 2018; Hernandez-Fuentes and Sanchez-Mojica, 2017). To do this, a qualitative approach with a single case study design will be used as a methodology (Yin, 2014), since a specific context (SMEs) will be analyzed, whose unit of analysis is five SMEs from the city of Medellin. In this regard, the case study makes it possible to take very defined samples of participants, in order to delve into the phenomenon (Bernal, 2010) through the means, techniques and instruments available in the investigation. Therefore, the general objective is to design a tool for the management of a decision-making methodology, based on the AHP model that allows the strengthening of the managerial and strategic processes of some SMEs in the city of Medellin.Based on the method used, five SMEs will be selected from a non-probabilistic and convenience sample, taking into consideration the following criteria: (1) that the SMEs work with their own capital or borrowed capital, (2) that they are formalized legally, (3) that the investors are the owners, that is, that the management of the companies does not depend on a family legacy, and (4) that the SMEs belong to the service sector. To diagnose decision-making processes, semi-structured interviews will be used, the data obtained will be characterized by means of a data matrix (Chavez, 2008), used as a method that facilitates the systematization of the information collected to explain the problem and understand the problem. behavior of the events, and thus analyze and find the possible relationships between the data offered by the five participating SMEs. The matrix will be designed from four categories to collate the information of the participants: generalities of the company and motivations, decision making, innovation in administrative processes and the AHP model. These categories will be located in columns, while each of the five participants will be located in rows. As expected results, it seeks to answer the research question, which dictates How to design a methodology tool based on the AHP model to strengthen and innovate the administrative process of strategic decision-making in some SMEs in Medellin? As a product, it is intended to show the fundamental aspects that will make up the design and operational and technical functionality of the tool. The impact is expected to be positive for SMEs due to their benefits at a functional and economic level, in accordance with the guidelines proposed by the development and science, technology and innovation plans, which precisely pose the need for SMEs to invest much more in technology to innovate and sustain organizations.
