Taking into account the activities and meetings of the “Qhapac Nan, Andean Main Road”, in which I participated informally (from August 2004 to April 2008) and formally (always ad honorem) as part of the Technical Committee of Provincial Management (from April 2008 to December 2009), I will follow the development of the project. In this essay I will present my critical point of view regarding the project, explaining the reasons why I decided to participate as well as the ones for resigning. I will center the analysis in the fact that all the project has been focused -at least until my resignation in 2009- to the only aim that was never explicitly in the project: tourism. Finally, I will reflect on the scope and consequences of this kind of projects, in the way they have been carried out, in our profession, in our region and for the rural indigenous communities that inhabitthe lands affected by these projects.
