Objective: to analyze the scientific production of an applied discipline such as Nursing in the face of the emergence of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. Method: Bibliometric study on the articles published by nurses about the coronavirus pandemic during the first three months since the declaration of the international health alert. Main results: 288 documents were retrieved, 90 % published in Nursing journals. Production increases in the fourth week of March and April, concentrating more than half in three countries (United States, United Kingdom and China). Three-quarters were published in English. They were mostly opinion articles (68.75 %). Psychosocial problems of professionals and organization of services are mainly addressed. Main conclusion: Nursing has followed the expected pattern in an applied discipline in terms of the production of knowledge about the Covid-19 pandemic, simultaneously using the channels of experience and science, with a limited research production that grows exponentially as the epidemic advances.
