Health promotion constitutes one of the problems facing the Cuban school today and for this, It has various processes and agencies; Such is the case of the School Council, a popular institution that has, within its working directions, participate in the pedagogical, psychological and health preparation of educational actors, through the different modalities of family orientation. That is why the article presents a historical analysis of the operation of the School Council in promoting the health on primary schoolchildren and also offers suggestions of the functions that the members of the School Council should perform, as well as the spaces of action and the methods to be used in their work, to achieve the integration of the school, the family and the community in promoting the health of schoolchildren.
