The XVIII International Seminar on Territory and Culture, held at the Universidad Catolica de Oriente (Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia) from 20 to 23 November 2019, consolidated a scientific and social debate on emerging issues involving territoriality and culture in various fields of scientific knowledge. In this seminar, the central analysis proposal was the concept of territory in the axes of environment, culture, education, province, metropolisation and human rights. Particularly, during the debate on the themes that were developed in the environmental axis, there was an exchange of experiences and interests, in relation to the dynamics and management of ecosystems, which allowed to broaden the work perspectives of environmental sustainability, in addition to generating a scientific and social debate on the state and management of natural resources of various territories. Some of the contributions of this debate are now reflected in this written work, which compiles research that shows that we are currently in a countdown in terms of our survival and that of other species on our planet, and that the actions we are taking are imperceptible on this scale of territorial transformation of ecosystems, to such an extent that the concept of climate change has been transformed into that of a climate emergency. Poverty, corruption, the lack of adequate environmental education and errors in territorial planning have led to our territories being abruptly transformed, and to our communities being displaced not only physically, but also culturally by extractivism, but also culturally by unbridled extractivism
