Infraestructura estratégica en América Latina y sus repercusiones geopolíticas: el caso de IIRSA, canal de Nicaragua y corredor ferroviario bioceánico central
The development of large infrastructure projects in Latin America involves several countries in the region. They have several objectives, from speeding up the transport of goods and passengers from ocean to ocean, to increasing the degree of integration of the continent. However, the development of these projects has sparked controversies involving environmental, social and economic problems. At the same time, infrastructure projects have a geopolitical dimension, which is why the states that promote and finance them are promoting their economic and political interests through these, if they are emerging countries in the area such as Brazil and inclusive of powers such as China. In the present writing three of these projects are analyzed; the Initiative for the integration of the South American Regional Infrastructure (IIRSA), the Nicaragua Canal and the Central Bioceanic Railway Corridor, through the review of secondary academic and journalistic sources, the impact of the projects on regional integration and their geopolitical repercussions
