El proposito de este estudio fue conocer los factores que motivan a los voluntarios en Colombia, para ello se utilizo el Inventario de Funciones del Voluntariado (IFV), que se adopto y aplico a 173 voluntarios que asistieron al “III Encuentro Nacional del Voluntariado”, realizado los dias 11 y 12 de Noviembre en la ciudad de Medellin. De la informacion recolectada se analizo el comportamiento de cada variable, se eliminaron 3 afirmaciones ya que presentaban comportamientos uniformes. Con las variables restantes, se realizo el analisis de componentes principales, del cual emergieron seis componentes que son compatibles con las dimensiones del Inventario de Funciones del Voluntariado (IFV), y el cual permitio identificar las dimensiones que predominan en la motivacion de los Voluntarios en Colombia, como lo son la dimension valores, carrera, social y comprension. Los resultados encontrados sugieren que el Inventario de Funciones del Voluntariado (IFV) es una escala valida y fiable para los Voluntarios en Colombia. Los voluntarios en Colombia se motivan principalmente porque se preocupan por los menos afortunados, sienten compasion hacia los demas, reconocen que ayudar a otras personas es importante y saben que pueden aportar su trabajo a una causa que es relevante para ellos./Abstract. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that motivate volunteers in Colombia, for it was used Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI), adopted and applied to 173 volunteers who attended the “III Encuentro Nacional del Voluntariado”, the 11 and November 12 in the Medellin city. From the information collected was analyzed the behavior of each variable were removed three statements had behaviors uniform. With the remaining variables, we performed principal components analysis, which emerged six components that are compatible with the dimensions of the Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI), and which identified the dimensions that predominate in the motivation of Volunteers in Colombia, such as the dimension values, career, social and understanding. The results suggest that the Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI) is a valid and reliable scale for Volunteers in Colombia. Volunteers in Colombia are motivated primarily because they care about the less fortunate, feel compassion for others, recognize that helping others is important and they know they can bring their work to a cause that is relevant to them.
